News: EFCC arrests Lecturer involved in Internet Fraud (Yahoo-Yahoo)


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a lecturer identified ‘Opashola Abdullahi’ for engaging in internet fraud, other known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’.

Abdullahi identified as a lecturer from the Kwara State College of Health Technology has been arrested and arraigned for engaging in romance fraud popularly known as (Dating).

According to NaijaLoaded, the lecturer was arrested alongside 32 internet fraud suspects in Offa on September 14 2020, with an offence contravening Section 95 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 3-4 of the same Law.

The lecturer had pleaded guilty when the charge was read to him and following his plea, counsel to EFCC, Andrew Akoja, led Paul Kera, an operative of EFCC in evidence to review the facts of the case.

Thereafter, Akoja urged the court to convict the defendant based on his plea and evidence placed before it while he is to remain in the custody EFCC pending a judgment.
